Celebrate Native American Month

 
 
Join the W.H. Walter's Free Public Library in celebrating Native American Month and our 80th Anniversary by visiting the Library to view a collection of Lenape Indian artifacts collected locally. A display of arrow heads, spear points, tomahawk stones, nose rings, pendants and necklace, hammer stones, an actual arrow and knife, and a variety of other artifacts will be on display on
Thursday, November 16 from 10:00AM-7:00PM.

Stephen Noll will present a discussion of the artifacts, and the Lenape  Indians that used these items in their everyday lives on               Thursday, November 16 @ 5:30PM.

Gather with fellow jigsaw puzzle enthusiasts to work together on the newest, most challenging puzzle yet! Visit any time we are open and work on our newest puzzle.
 We will frame it when it is finished.

Library Board of Trustee Opening

Are you passionate about libraries and the role the W.H. Walters Free Public Library plays in the Alpha community? The W.H. Walters Library Board of Trustees is seeking interested Alpha residents to volunteer to fill a vacancy for a partial term that runs through Dec. 31, 2020.

Position involves the following responsibilities: 

- Be an advocate for the library at all times

- Attend all regularly scheduled, and special board meetings (held the 2nd Monday of each month in the library)

- Give the time and attention the job requires
  -Come to meetings prepared, having read relevant information
  - Be available to serve on board committees
  -Be familiar with the board's bylaws and library policies, along with enforcement of these guidelines
  -Visit library frequently to enough to be familiar with services and see potential needs

- Continuing education

- Strive to maintain satisfactory public financing

- Strategic Planning for growth within the community

- Accept assignments for community work and give the time required to accomplish goals

This is a wonderful way to give back to the community and the library. If you are interested in this opportunity, please submit a letter of interest and include reasons for interest and any special skills or experience that would be helpful in serving on the Library Board.
